April is blooming with a myriad of spring events in greater Philadelphia gardens. Celebrate spring with a guided tour of blossoming trees or shop for a few special plants to add to your garden at an on-site nursery.

  • April 6, 2024—Spring Gardening Saturday at Mt. Cuba Center
    Registration and payment required.

  • April 13, 2024—Daffodil Day at Winterthur Included with garden admission.

  • April 12 – 14, 2024—Sakura Weekend at Shofuso
    Celebrate traditional and contemporary Japanese culture under the cherry blossom trees during this free and public, family-friendly event, featuring live music, dance performances, arts and crafts, a vendor fair, food trucks, a beer garden, and much more. Included with garden admission. 

  • April 19 – 21, 2024—Wildflower Weekend at Mt. Cuba Center Included with garden admission. 

  • April 19, 2024—Spirit of Spring Fireside at Tyler Arboretum 
    An outdoor gathering  perfect for nature lovers and families alike. Indulge in delicious offerings from food trucks, a cupcake truck, and enjoy a selection of beer and spirits. Included with garden admission. 

  • April 20, 2024—Sip Among the Blooms at Winterthur
    Explore cheerful blooms throughout the garden as you sample wine varietals perfect for spring. Registration and payment required.

  • April 21, 2024 | 2PM—“A Murmur in the Trees” at Haverford Arboretum
    This is a 30-minute, meditative piece for 24 double basses. Where they will stand along either side of the path, nestled into the woods and play a slow meditative piece. Arboretum tours available before the event.

  • April 26 and 27—Peak Bloom Photography Workshop at Jenkins Arboretum
    Spring at Jenkins is the perfect time to photograph blooms with azaleas, rhododendrons, and flowering trees galore! Award-winning photographer Laura Ducceschi will illustrate some of the challenges and solutions to creating impactful floral photographs, including equipment, camera settings, lighting, and composition. Registration and payment required.

  • April 27—West Craft Fest at the Woodlands

May is special event season… garden parties, bourbon tastings, art openings,  and more! Or slow down and smell the flowers on a guided tour lead by a knowledgable garden staff member.

  • May 4, 2024—The Andalusia Garden Party 
    Each year, friends and guests enjoy cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and breathtaking blooms at Andalusia Historic House, Gardens & Arboretum during our Garden Party fundraiser. All proceeds benefit the Annual Fund of The Andalusia Foundation, the nonprofit that works to preserve the gardens and buildings of this National Historic Landmark. Advanced tickets required. 

  • May 8, 2024—Appleford 50 Year Anniversary Celebration and Spring Open House 
    Come raise a glass to celebrate spring in the beautiful historic house and gardens. Light refreshments will be provided. House and garden tours will be offered at 6:00 and 7:00 pm. RSVP to rsvpapplefordcommittee@gmail.com 

  • May 16, 2024—Awbury al Fresco: Garden Party & Benefit for the Arboretum Advanced ticket purchase required. 

  • May 18, 2024—Spring Blooms Annual Celebration at Jenkins Arboretum
    Celebrate our local pollinators and the emergence of spring at our annual gala. Enjoy a roving dinner, garden games, lively music, a live auction, and other floral festivities. Registration and payment required.
