Did you know that every cone is not a pinecone? Explore the wide variety of conifers—both evergreen and deciduous—on display at Morris. These notable specimens provide multi-seasonal interest with an array of forms, foliage, bark, and cones.

Well, not much… but as the secular aspects of the holiday evolved over the decades of the 19th century, those who contributed to that evolution have found their final resting place at Laurel Hill East! This tour will explore those individuals connected to events and incidents that have indelibly arisen from the holiday.

Gather at Laurel Hill for a soul-stirring performance by alumni of The Curtis Institute and The Juilliard School – celebrating the return of light, rebirth, and renewal. After the concert, raise a glass with complementary sips from Triple Bottom Brewing and enjoy seasonal bites as we welcome winter together.

Join this peaceful winter walk that explores the quiet beauty of trees in their leafless form. Learn to identify local species by bark, buds, and branching patterns, and deepen your appreciation for the subtle signs of life that persist through the cold season.

Everyone is welcome to join in on the fun – even if you are new to birding! This walk will cover up to 2 miles (however, you are free to leave at any point). Bring a pair of binoculars and a field guide if you have one.

Join GFS for an engaging panel discussion with author and horticulturalist Nicole Juday and PHS Vice President and horticulturist Andrew Bunting as they explore the inspiration, artistry, and horticultural richness behind the book Private Gardens of Philadelphia.

Learn all about orchids! Participants will learn all the basic requirements to successfully grow and re-bloom their orchids. The workshop concludes with a hands-on re-potting activity and all participants will receive one blooming orchid plant to take home.
